System requirements

This release of EclipseGuard expects that you have the following software already installed: Eclipse Platform version 3.0 M7. EclipseGuard supports both Linux and Windows platforms. EclipseGuard has undergone reasonable testing on both platforms.

 

Installing the license key

You need to request a license key to be able to create and manage assertions.  It can be obtained from http://www.guardsoft.com To install the license key, please click the main menu bar: Window -> Preferences -> EclipseGuard. The preference dialog will open, after that click the location to enter where your license file is:

If the license key is not valid, you cannot start running the debugger and the following error message box will appear:

 

Installation

Note:  If you have installed a previous version of EclipseGuard plugin, please make sure you have uninstall it before you begin installing the new version. Uninstallation instructions are described below.

To successfully install EclipseGuard, perform the following steps:

1. Start the Eclipse Install Manager

Click Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install and then select Search for new features to install

2. Add new update site for EclipseGuard

Select Add Update Site and then enter the EclipseGuard URL address as follows:

http://www.guardsoft.com/Downloads/eclipseguard/core/

After entering the URL address, follow the instruction displayed on the window. Finally, a popup message will prompt you to restart Eclipse in order to complete the installation. After restart, the EclipseGuard welcome page will appear.

 

To uninstall EclipseGuard plugin, please follow these steps:

1. Open Manage Configuration

Click Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuration

2. Disable and uninstall EclipseGuard plugin

Click Disable in the info pane on the right as shown below

A popup message will prompt you to restart Eclipse in order to complete the operation. Click No to avoid the restart of Eclipse, after that make sure that the Show Disable Features button has been enabled as shown below. Then click uninstall in the info panel on the right side. Finally a popup message will prompt you to restart Eclipse. Click Yes to complete the uninstallation of EclipseGuard.
